Edward Bawden - Snowstorm at Brighton
Colour linocut (1956). This print is innovative in its use - more so than other of Bawden's prints - of an extensive over-printing of a lighter colour on a darker; and with such bold and angular cuts the storm is evoked to good effect. Fishermen still fish off the piers and jetties of Brighton, but no longer are they dressed in sou'westers or duffle coats - the details of which are here by Bawden so acutely observed. Original size: 45.9 x 60.9cm.
Size: 30 x 40cm; incl. border: 42 x 59cm
Format: Giclée Print, Limited Edition (1/950) on 310gsm thick 100% cotton rag
